That One Thing

That One thing

Happy Friday Purgators! One week until Christmas – hope you started all your shopping!

I pride myself in always giving someone a chance even if I’m not 100% sold on them, Loren was definitely one of those guys.

I met Loren on OK Cupid and we had fantastic conversation. Our messages resembled novels and we never ran out of things to talk about, that being said I was a little apprehensive about our age gap (10 years my senior). We messaged back and forth for a while until he asked me on a date, I didn’t hear from him until a couple hours before our date when I asked him if “we were still on.” We met at a local park and decided we would go for a walk and see where it took us.

The date was fantastic, the conversation ran as smoothly in person as it did over message, I could definitely picture a second date with him. Until…he said that one thing that was a complete deal breaker. I don’t need to go into detail about what he said, as everyone has that one thing that turns them off, mine is someone who lacks ambition. He had everything going for him until he said what he said. Basically the world was his oyster and potential opportunities were abundant in his life but he chose to do nothing with it and that was something I couldn’t get over. I politely wrapped up the date shortly after, gave him a hug goodbye and told him to have a good evening – never to talk to each other again.

Takeaway Message: We all have that one thing that we just can’t make an exception for. These are personal and moral views that you should never look past. Stay true to yourself and remember that that “one thing” won’t be an issue when you find “the one.”
